Summer in abandoned places

I spent Midsummer up at Kuxbo, a sort of holiday commune shared by a bunch of families since 1973. It being its 40th anniversary, everyone was there: the founders, the newcomers, their children, and their children's children - about fifty all in all, my extra aunts and uncles and cousins. Kuxbo is situated in Jädraås, an old foundry town; the foundry was closed long ago but the town remains. Those who have read "Pyret" in Jagannath may recognize the setting. Sweden has plenty of these places, all gorgeous and haunting.
